Report to: This project requires reporting to 102 Main Street, Port Monmouth, New Jersey 07758 every morning at 7am for field work assignment. Field work assignments are directed by USACE PM and Crawford PM.
Summary Scope: Provide field oversight professional services for USACE District on the following work areas, which include the installation of floodwalls and retaining walls, earthen levees, interior drainage features (swales, ponding areas, drainage, pipes), one pump station and outfall, generator building, road raising and utility relocation, development of permit applications and incidental related work.
Essential Functions: Outside work environment consists of observing work activities such as construction installation, material storage, equipment usage, documenting progress with photos, documenting actions in QA daily report, documenting deficiencies, and compliance to codes and standards. Inside work environment consists of reviewing and commenting on contractor deliverables such as QC daily reports, schedule reports, meeting minutes, technical documents, request for information, submittal review, etc. in both hard copy or RMS computer database system.
Competencies: Computer skills proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Scheduling software like Primavera P6, and Construction Database software like Procore, RMS, Newforma.
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities, works independently in the field. Reports to USACE Project Manager assigned at site and Crawford Project Manager assigned at Home Office.
Work Environment: On a daily basis, the work environment requires a hard hat, eye glass protection, safety vest, gloves, and steel toed work boots for safety at all times. Long sleeve shirts worn around welding and electrical arc operations, otherwise clean short sleeve collared shirts and jeans are appropriate during field construction activities.
Physical Demands: While performing professional oversight services, you will encounter uneven terrain, hills, water puddles, ruts, pitfalls, sumps, etc. during the daily walk inspections so watch for slips, trips, and falls. Prepare for heat and sun, by staying hydrated with water and wearing sunscreen lotion. No lifting over 25 lbs.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Works Monday – Friday, 6am to 3pm typically, minimum 8 hours per day. No overtime or weekend work is planned by the Client at this time.
Travel: Yes, personal vehicle travel while onsite will be required and reimbursed at the Federal mileage rate, provided odometer backup log is acceptable.
Required Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineer with 10+ years of experience with site/civil, geotechnical soils, structural abutments both steel and concrete reinforced. Masters degree in civil Engineer, Geotechnical, Construction Management preferred alternative.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: US Driver’s License Required, OSHA 40/30 Required, and US Passport Preferred. Must have valid personal vehicle insurance and registration every day to gain security access onsite.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Yes, a Federal Background Security Clearance is required by USACE to obtain a Govt Common Access Card Badge and Govt usage of Secured Network. In addition, Crawford requires a Federal, State, and Local Background as part of its employment along with drug and alcohol testing.
