Position Summary: 

ISI is seeking an entry-level Office Engineer to provide technical and administrative support across project planning, design support, and construction management activities. This role is primarily responsible for maintaining project documentation, routing and tracking contractor submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), supporting schedule and milestone tracking, and helping ensure project records are organized, current, and accessible across the team. The Office Engineer will support Government-led project execution by assisting with document flow, record management, reporting, meeting documentation, and coordination of project information across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.

This position is best suited for an organized, detail-oriented professional who can manage high volumes of project documentation while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and consistency. A key function of the role is supporting the review and routing of submittals, RFIs, and related project records using familiarity with CSI MasterFormat, UFGS divisions, drawings, specifications, and other construction documents to help direct materials to the appropriate technical reviewers. The Office Engineer will also support project schedules, shared folders, submittal logs, marked-up record sets, closeout documentation, and routine status reporting while assisting the Government with non-discretionary project support tasks.

The role may support activities related to requirements development, site evaluations, draft scopes of work, cost estimate support, design reviews, submittal tracking, meeting coordination, inspections documentation, contractor schedule monitoring, progress reporting, and project closeout. This is a support role that contributes to project delivery through strong document control, coordination, and technical-administrative follow-through rather than independent decision-making authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain organized project files, logs, shared folders, and record sets to support accurate and accessible documentation across the team.
  • Route, track, and maintain contractor submittals, RFIs, and related correspondence through the appropriate review channels.
  • Use familiarity with CSI MasterFormat, UFGS divisions, drawings, and specifications to direct documents to the appropriate technical reviewers.
  • Track submittal workflows and maintain current submittal registers, logs, and related status records.
  • Support development, routing, and maintenance of project documents, including scopes of work, meeting records, reports, and closeout materials.
  • Maintain marked-up plans, specifications, as-built support documents, and other project record files.
  • Support project meetings by preparing materials, documenting discussions, and tracking follow-up items.
  • Assist with review and coordination of design and construction documentation, including submittals, RFIs, design comments, change documentation, and closeout packages.
  • Support site evaluations, field surveys, pre-construction coordination, and documentation of project conditions.
  • Help track project deliverables, milestones, and other schedule-related information, as assigned.
  • Assist with project reporting, including routine status updates, progress photographs, and supporting documentation.
  • Support documentation for inspections, field observations, defects, omissions, and non-compliant work identified by the Government.
  • Provide technical-administrative support for non-discretionary project tasks, including gathering information, organizing records, and drafting reports.

 Required Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management
    OR
  • 4 years of construction-related specialized technical experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with 3 years of US residence.
  • Must be able to pass and maintain a Public Trust clearance (HSPD-12 fingerprint background check).

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Construction or design-related technical documentation experience
  • Experience with federal or Department of Defense (DoD) projects.

  • Must be required to occasionally move and lift 20-30 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb, erect and maintain balance on a 30-40 pound ladder.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary computer position for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to walk up to 3 miles per day between buildings.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods
  • Must be willing to work in external environments of rain, high heat and significant cold.
  • Must be able navigate active construction sites containing uneven ground, debris, and active construction hazards such as sharp objects, electrical hazards, and potential fall hazards.
  • Must be able to occasionally go into confined spaces and crawl

Work Setting/Environment/Travel Requirements:

  • This job operates in active construction environments and professional office environments.
  • The position requires an eight (8)-hour workday performed between 0700 (7AM) and 1700 (5PM), Monday through Friday. employees are expected to arrive between 0700 (7AM) and 0800 (8AM). Employees cannot depart till after 1600 (4PM); limited flexibility in daily start and end times is available based on project demands
