Purpose:
The Dickinson School of Business invites applications for a part-time professor who can teach construction management courses at the undergraduate level on campus. Primary teaching responsibilities include one or more of the following courses: CNST 3013 Plans Analysis, CNST 3113 Construction Management, CNST 3213 Mechanical and Electrical Systems for Buildings, CNST 3313 Construction Project Management, and CNST 4023 Construction Estimating.
Essential Functions:
• Prepare and distribute syllabi according to university policy
• Organize and direct learning experiences with assigned classes as outlined in the course syllabus and course objectives
• Keep accurate class records and submit reports and grades on time and as requested
• Be available to students though designated times
• Teach 1-3 construction management courses on campus
• Demonstrate strong pedagogy with respect to curriculum and instruction
• Assist the chair in setting student learning outcomes for the class that align with the outcomes of the construction management program
• Incorporate assessment of student learning outcomes into the syllabus for reporting at the end of each courseOther Duties
• Assisting with the assessment process and accreditation reporting for the sport management graduate certificate.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A master’s degree with eighteen (18) graduate hours in construction management or closely related field.
• Ability to teach courses in construction management
• Effective communication skills
• Be proficient in office technology, office software (including various Microsoft tools), and Learning Management Software (OBU currently uses Canvas as its LMS)
• Sufficient mobility and physical stamina to teach on-ground courses.Preferred:
• A terminal degree (D.B.A. or Ph.D.) in construction management related field
• Successful teaching experience at the university level and industry experienceSpecial Requirements:
• Commitment to the vision and mission of Oklahoma Baptist University and the Paul Dickinson School of Business
• Must be an active member of an evangelical* church in one's community of residence, willing to teach in accordance with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, and in agreement with the university's policy on human sexuality (provided by HR upon request).
• *Evangelical is a broad term referring to a segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
