Senior Commercial Construction Estimator
 

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid)

Salary: $135,000 - $185,000

 

Overview:

 

The Senior Commercial Construction Estimator will play a key role in the cost planning and financial analysis of large-scale commercial new build projects. This position requires expertise in preparing detailed estimates for ground-up developments, evaluating subcontractor pricing, and optimizing project costs through value engineering. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in commercial construction estimating, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with project teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure accurate cost forecasting and budget alignment.

 

Must Haves:

 

  • 7+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator.
  • Proven experience estimating commercial new build projects, including high-rise, mid-rise, and large-scale commercial developments.
  • Strong ability to prepare detailed cost estimates for projects valued at $15M+.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and Microsoft Office.

 

Nice to Haves:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Los Angeles market conditions, building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepare conceptual cost models, budgets, and feasibility studies based on historical data, market trends, and subcontractor input.
  • Analyze project designs, structural requirements, and subcontractor estimates to provide cost comparisons, value engineering options, and cost-saving strategies.
  • Develop comprehensive cost breakdowns, including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead expenses, for new commercial developments.
  • Review and interpret RFQ documents, architectural drawings, and engineering specifications to generate precise cost estimates.
  • Identify potential risks, deficiencies, and budget impacts in project scope and provide recommendations to the project management team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on cost expectations, construction schedules, and budget constraints.
  • Support pre-bid meetings and presentations, incorporating feedback into final cost projections.
  • Maintain clear communication between estimating teams, project managers, and clients regarding cost estimation processes.
  • Ensure estimates align with construction methodologies, project timelines, and evolving market conditions.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, material pricing, and best practices in commercial new build cost estimation.
